There were certainly many highlights of 2008, a year in which I hosted more weeks at the DC Improv than any other comic (with the technical exception of Flip Orley). One of my favorite weeks had to be when I opened for Ben Bailey, the host of Discovery Channel’s ‘Cash Cab’ show. He’s actually back at the Improv this February, though I won’t be there, because I’m down in Austin now. As you know, because I’m sure you frequent this site daily.

Anyway, the highlight: The picture below is of me giving Ben Bailey a ride home from hanging out after our last night at the Improv together last April. What I thought was hilarious about this was that when he finally wanted to go back to the hotel, he couldn’t get a cab to save his life.

I mean, honestly, how could other cabbies not totally hook him up?!? This dude has given the industry so much positive publicity, it almost makes up for the damage done by that shitty Jimmy Fallon movie with Queen Latifah. So I guess I kind of figured he’d be like a God to them or something. Like he’d have a bat signal of some kind, except for cabs. Apparently not.

And for the record, I think it was fairly mature of me not to ask him to sit in the backseat for this shot. Because it definitely would have been more hilarious. In fact now that I’m writing this, I totally regret it. Damn it.

(also he looked just incredibly scary. that’s probably why i just let him go)
